My Family Background
Born into an Egyptian family in Austria, I grew up balancing what felt like two completely different worlds–the Egyptian and the Austrian culture, the Arabic and the German language–, which deeply shaped my worldview from the start. Navigating life as an Egyptian-Austrian and a Muslim woman in Europe, I grappled with identity and belonging, but found my calling in learning different languages, exploring cultures and traveling the world.
My Professional Background
With university degrees in Education, Transcultural Communication, Translation and Linguistics, as well as experience as a language teacher and translator, I understand the importance of personalized language learning and the deep connection between learning a language and understanding the culture behind it.
My Language Journey
I am a polyglot who is fluent in six languages and is currently learning two more. I grew up bilingual in Arabic and German, and later became fluent in English, French, Spanish and Turkish. Currently, I am learning Italian and Russian. Over the years, I’ve explored other languages and dialects, including Swedish, Dutch, Portuguese, Bosnian, Farsi, Urdu, Swiss German, Quebecois French, and various Arabic varieties.
The Creation of Liqaa by Hebah
Building on my experiences as a language teacher and learner, and frustrated with traditional language teaching methods, I founded Liqaa by Hebah. I believe anyone can learn a language if they know HOW and truly understand the culture behind the language. That’s why at Liqaa, I help learners discover how they can best learn a language while also developing an understanding of its cultural context.
